I'm new at this "being a Mom of school-aged kid" thing. I'm not new, however, at planning photo shoots to document everything: first snow of the year shoot, you lost a tooth shoot, I finished your Halloween costumes shoot, I just bought you a cute outfit and need an excuse for spending the money shoot... So, as you can imagine, my daughter's very first day of Kindergarten last fall was no different. I knew I'd be crying like a baby and she'd be running out the door that morning, so we decided to plan a little Mommy-daughter time and go to her school the evening before. She dressed in her new outfit, backpack and all.

Not only did we take some cute photos that we both love, the whole experience was kind of neat. It was still, quiet, no one else around. I imagined in just a few hours this place would be buzzing. Buses lined-up pouring nervous, excited kids at the doorstep for their first day of school. But tonight; it was just ours.
